There is this webcomic called Exterminatus Now, cocreated by silversword.deviantart.com/ and it's at www.exterminatusnow.co.uk/ which I read regularly. But for past month or so, I cannot access it through couple browsers on my Windows 7. Yet when I tried it on Linux (Mint OS), I have no problem accessing it.
And I am using same internet access to boot.
I must miss something or Windows truly hates this particular webcomic.

UPDATE: To avoid further grief, I am watching this via rss feed, hope this will work.

Zuko mullet

I was watching preview of Avatar comic @ www.youtube.com/watch?v=7H2E6u… when the author discussed about change in character design. Changes he talks about reflect changing of time. When he talks about Zuko character design, he originally wants design Zuko with long hair, but when he saw it he didn't like it and called it Zuko mullet. When I heard that comment I chuckled.

This journal is response to what I've seen and read and somewhat stunned how reality innocuously imitate what I've seen and read.

What triggers this thought is when I've visited local libraries and I was perusing their graphic novels section. In one particular library, they had half a dozen volumes of Warren Ellis' Transmepolitan. The premise of the story is set in dystopic future world that surreal and weird. The main character is Spider Jerusalem, a cynical journalist who doesn't hesitate pursue his articles regardless of consequences. His adversary in latter half of the story is President Callahan, who personality had very dark undertone, much to the distress of our main character. The visual image the Callahan project are very similar to images Obama did during his presidential election. This is stunning and discomforting. I mean the comic was published almost a decade(s?) before Obama came into public. Is this an classic example of what Carl Jung called meaningful coincidence or absurd one? If it a former, I dread the coming years in the United States, but if it is the latter, the coincidence is jarring.

Another example is what is happening in England. Riots have been raging for days and the government threaten to expel anyone caught rioting from public housing. This example remind me of the scene in The Children of Men, where the government were expelling illegal immigrants from housing. Personally I wish the British government used better tact, paraphrasing passage from the Bible: "...children should not be punished for sins of their parents and the parents should not be punished for sins of their children..." Again, I hope that this is just absurd coincidence and not a foretelling of future England. (Alan Moore will probably gloating right now as England is slowly becoming what he had written in V for Vendetta.)
